Went to Cibos Last week after seeing a movie and the place was buzzing, luckily we had booked a table. We thought it so nice to be in a restaurant with freshly cooked food, good service and a great atmosphere and would you believe it was in DIDCOT!

If you scroll down, you'll find a review from someone called Sadly Disappointed. That was me, and last time I visited, I was sadly disappointed. What a difference this time. Had the same starter - Antipasto Rustica - and guess what? It came with olives, sund dried tomatoes, a good selection of cured meats and cheeses and a salad garnish. Perfect, just the way it should be. Follwed this with Pizza Inglese - generous, tasty toppings, perfectly cooked!
I wanted this place to be good - and now it is. Thanks Cibo, for maybe listening, but mainly for getting it right.

Dear Joey, even if it will be 60 people but in small table of 4 or 5 people, we don't have any problem to manage it, becouse we will send 1 or 2 table each time.... anyway for next time if you really can't pre-order give me a call and i'm sure we will arrange something for you!
Best Regards

Dear Manager,
Thank you for your reply, but I was only talking eight people.
As a matter of interest then, how would you deal, for instance, with several people (say 20 or so) arriving at your restaurant, maybe on their way home from the cinema, not together, in seperate parties of maybe fours and fives etc.

Went in on Friday and couldn't have pizza? Has pasta instead (on the express lunchtime menu) service was sloooow.

THE BEST RESTAURANT IN DIDCOT, FANTASTIC!!

Posted by Manager — 07/04/2008 at 15:05
Hello Joey, we do have this policy because our food is cooked after your order it... all our food is freshly made, and is very hard to cook for 20 people that will order 20 different types of pastas... first of all the reason is the space... we dont have the cookers for cook for big party with all different choice... we prefer to do set menu instead that use pre-cooked food that personaly i think really doesen't taste great... but anyway if you really don't want the set menu all ways we arrange a solution with the party and we try to make everybody happy! Please for any enquire don't hesitate to contact me on

Wonder why this restuarant has a policy that if you are over eight in you party, you must have their set meals? at their price. Surely better for this to be an option rather than a rule, some people in parties of eight and over do not all want to eat the same thing!

Could be a great restaurant if the service was more attentive and efficient, the pizza bases were not over-cooked and the pizza toppings were not so sparse, if you got a whole portion of garlic bread rather than half cut into slices, and if the starters were of a decent size for the money. Waiting times have slightly improved since our last visit.

If you live in North Oxford you'd have been better going to the Cibo's in Summertown - it's much better than the one in Didcot. if you're travelling all the way here, there are better places to eat in Didcot

All i have to say is superb,we had a wonderful time. we actully went just to see the magician thay have there on a friends recommendation. We have never been there before as we live in north oxford so its a bit of a trek. Not knowing what to expect we were surprised, the service was first class as was the food and the entertainment was the iceing on the cake. (first class resturant highly recommend)

Very good! Great food and wonderful service. Tip - it's cheaper to order a half carafe of red wine rather than 2 x large glasses, and you get more!

Service very poor. Food if we can call this things food! Is disgusting!!! Sorry but i think that is better to change manager and chef!

I don't live in didcot, but do visit it on occasion, and nearly always find myself ending up at Cibo! the food is nearly always brilliant, the service is 10 out of 10, and i love the overall atmosphere! i am slightly biased of course, as i have never tried splitz (tad too pricy for a cheap student),but even so, i think cibo is getting better and better month after month. keep it up!

if you want fast food go to a fast food outlet.cibo will tell you that the food is freshly cooked to order, thats why you wait a while.prezzo will be the same ,its similar type of establishment. portions seem fine ,if you that hungry ,order some sides of veg or salad or olives or bread,or ,if you really want ,some chips to satisfy your fast food cravings.

I find the portions sizes very small for the money, tastes good, but need more of it. Need a Didcot kebab afterwards. Waiting time for each course takes too long, after being seated by a very miserable host, who gets even more miserable if you require another drink while you wait. Will give it another go though. Please note if going to cineworld after to watch a film, you'll need to book restaurant 4 hours before or you'll miss beginning. No joke!!! Enjoy!!

Excellent pasta - good venue, just what Didcot needed.

Can't wait for the place behind Wilko's to open so I can get a decent pizza with a bit of flavour

Went to Cibo! for our Christmas Party. Not sure why, but wasn't expecing great things but the food and service were really good. We were a large party and the food came out efficiently and was well cooked and presented. Will be going back next year!

What a joy to have somewhere nice to eat in Didcot - my family & I love eating at Cibo's. The food has always been great, the service has been efficent & friendly (sometimes a bit rushed) & overall its a nice place to eat.

I had a nice pizza last tuesday at cibo. I'm italian and I can say that it looked like and it taste as an italian person wants.
The service wasn't bad and i have been sourrounded by nice eastern europe girls. The blonde one was really cute.
One of her got a real monoton and cold accent, but they were all nice.
So for me it is fine and i dont know if there is a better place to eat in didcot. ciao belli

Have been a couple of times to cibo's and have no complaints as such with the food. the staff are all very friendly...but the little guy in the black suit.(head waiter?) .well what can I say...he needs to lighten up a bit and smile..he made me feel really uncomfortable, he took my order for desert and coffee and after waiting 10 mins never received any..they even had the cheek to charge me...recommend he goes on a customer care course.

Love Cibo - Been there many times now and always had a lovely meal. The pizza's are totally authentic & tasty and the deserts are very good. We have always had great service when we eat there and enjoy the friendly, clean environment. Nice to have somewhere a bit smarter in Didcot to eat and a refreshing change from curry/chinese!

think that the food and ambience here is very good.also, when you book, you are asked if you are in a hurry and for warned that it may take a while for your food as its cooked to order.i think that is very fair.also, you are told if it is going to be busy etc,so cant ask for better than that.

Went there again on Friday, service was a little slow to start with due to computer problems, but food was nice and service was up to speed for others by the end.
Lots of staff and lots of customers, they must be doing something right?

Posted by sadly disappointed — 20/07/2007 at 19:18
Wow!
Whatever I might think of the food, it can't be argued that this place has some fervently loyal customers.
Sorry if I've offended you guys but, please, accept that I am as entitled to my opinion as anyone else.
And my opinion is that - on the day I visited - the food was poor.
Maybe most of the time this place is brilliant and I went on an off day. But let me reiterate - in my - just my, no-one elses - opinion this meal could have been so much better.

I have been to the restaraunt quite few times now , consider me as a regular, enjouyed many times the delicious pizzas that i couldn't find anywhere with homemade dought. The portions always generous, me and my family never had a problem with it and very very tasty!Especially napoletana and the special pizza they do Tallegio and Speck.I don't think you can't find too many places like CIBO! which serve nice, tasty and descent food at all times, not only in Didcot but in Oxford as well. Unless if you pay £100 to feed yourself and your family you will not find anywhere about it. The argument with the oil and the chilies is for laughs really and also pepper is always on the table! The place is great with friendly staff and nice descent food. Highly reccomended! Some people they like always to complaint without any reason and for them there is always Mc Donalds! See you soon guys! Ciao!

As a regular of Cibo, I hate to see such an unbalanced incorrect review sucha s the one below. I have also had the American hot -the slices of chorizo are actually quite large and I thought it was a good portion. In Italy pizzas are not swamped with toppings -so it is actually how it should be. I have also had the Rustica -the meat is not processed at all -it is in fact salami and of good quality -and I should know as I used to sell to delicatessens! The cheeses are traditional ones served for antipasti, like pecorino and provolone -again good quality. There are actually no olives advertised as coming with this dish anyway. If you wanted some you could have ordered some for unde £2. I have often asked for olive oil and Balsamic vinegar -it is brought to the table and there is no extra charge.
So it would seem that the only justifyable complaint was that the chillis were stacked up, some a knife and fork can remedy easily by distributing them around the pizza rather than eating them all in one go.
If you are going to post a review at least know what you are talking about!

Why was I disappointed? This was not how a pizza should be served. I ordered the Americana Hot with extra Parma ham. The pizza came with practically no tomato base and just 7 - that's right, 7, I counted them - pieces of pepperoni. The jalapeno peppers weren't scattered evenly over the pizza, but just dumped in the middle, making a portion inedible and the rest bland. And it's not as if the chefs were so busy that mistakes were being made due to rushing - there were 11 in total in the place.
Before this I'd had the Antipasto Rustica - again very disappointing - 6 pieces of pre-packed continental sausage (I know, I know I'm obsessed with counting meat slices) with some bland cheese and dry bread. Where were olives? Or vinegar and oil? Wouldn't have added much to the costs.
I'm sorry - I'd have liked this place to be good - it just really isn't.

Had a lovely spicy chicken dish with sweet peppers. Children had pizzas, which were much bigger than Pizza Express - and tastier. Beer a bit pricy, but Nastro Azzuro always seems to be.
Lemon cheese cake very nice. Recommended.
